The Performance Improvement Engineer is responsible for leading and facilitating quality improvement and safety initiatives as a content expert, performance improvement facilitator, educator, and consultant in order to accomplish measurable improvements in process and quality of care outcomes, with targeted focus on alignment with publicly reported measures and regulatory imperatives including but not limited to TJC accreditation, Leapfrog Hospital Survey and Leapfrog Safety Grade, and CMS Inpatient and Outpatient Quality Reporting programs. The PI Engineer will work collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the organization including physicians and nursing leadership, clinical staff, ancillary and support staff, health information management and informatics teams, and hospital administration. Duties include project management, data analytics, and facilitation of performance improvement activities using methodologies and techniques such as Lean and the DMAIC process. Ensures projects utilize evidence-based guidelines, action-oriented data, and national benchmarks to achieve measurable and sustainable results.
Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor`s degree (preferably in engineering, computer science, statistics, business, or healthcare management) with a minimum of 2 years of experience facilitating project teams required. Master`s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience facilitating healthcare project teams preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Strong verbal and written skills. Strong presentation skills before large and small groups. Previous experience in delivering project results using statistical methods and other formal problem solving techniques with an intermediate to advanced skill level with Excel. Prior experience with project management and/or Lean Six Sigma and Change Management required. Excellent customer service skills required.
Minimum License Requirement:
Six Sigma Green Belt certification or Lean Master certification required with the goal to obtain Six Sigma Black Belt within one year of hire. Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred upon hire.
