Job Summary
Prepare patients for provider exam, take vital signs, record patient history and assist in office procedures. Administer treatment, medications and injections as ordered. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence. Call patient regarding test results as instructed by provider. Performs blood collection by venipuncture and arterial puncture. Participates in data entry, specimen processing and preparation, retrieval of laboratory order information, and ensuring the quality of the blood specimens taken and communicates with clients to help resolve specimen concerns as required.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement:
High school diploma/GED required or 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in lieu of High School Diploma. Completion of Medical Assistant Program required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Three to five (3-5) years in a healthcare setting preferred. Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory terminology required. One to two (1-2) years of experience assisting in performing laboratory assays preferred. Computer skills. Excellent customer service skills.
Minimum License Requirement:
BLS required within 90 days of hire/transfer. Completion of annual Medical Assistant Competency training. Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate or completion of an external MA Phlebotomy training.

Pay Range:
$22.05 - $33.08
