Job Summary
The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising staff and the operation and overall flow of the unit on his/her designated shift, and is a role model for all staff. He/she is responsible for coordinating unit schedules and staff assignments and participating in the performance appraisal process. The Charge Nurse is responsible for ensuring staff meet the approved Standards of Practice, for managing assigned personnel and unit activities and for promoting cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care providers. Provides patient care as needed. Responsible for the supervision/delivery of operating room patient care. Member of the PeriOperative Management Team. Responsible for planning, education, resource management as it relates to specialty area. The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/She ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care.
Job Requirements
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Two years experience is required in specialty area. Supervisory experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills required.
Minimum License Requirement:
Current California RN License.
BLS required
ACLS required.
PALS and National InstitutesofHealth (NIH) StrokeScale Certification "A" required within 3monthsofhire/transfer.
Annual 4 hours of stroke education required for those working at QVH.
Annual 4 hours of Orthopedic Education required for those working at QVH.
Charge R.N. GI Lab -
ACLS and PALS certification within 3 months of date of hire/transfer at QVH.
Charge R.N. Emergency Services -
ACLS and PALS certification required within 3 months of hire.
Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required within 30 days of hire/transfer. New hires who have completed Assaultive Behavior training outside of Emanate Health will be required to complete Emanate Health Work Place Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire/transfer.
MICN required within 6 months of hire (QVH).
CEN preferred.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification "A" required within 3 months of hire/transfer for those working at QVH and FPH.
Annual 8 hours of Stroke Education required for those working at QVH.
Charge R.N. OR -
ACLS required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
CNOR preferred.
Annual 4 hours of stroke education required for those working at QVH.
Charge R.N. L&D -
ACLS required within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Fetal Monitoring required.
Annual 1 hour of stroke education required for those working at QVH
Charge R.N. Medical Surgical/Telemetry -
ACLS required within 3 months of hire/transfer.
Chemo Certification required within one year of hire/transfer.
Annual 1 hours of Stroke Education required for those working at QVH.

$52.99-80.97 an hour
